SNOOZE!!

I request every one to spare 5 min and read this story and think about what to do next.

Snooze..!!

India, December 24’ 1999: The day begins… Christmas Eve everyone seems to be busy with their own life, some busy in decorating their house for Christmas, calling up friends and family, inviting guests for a party. Everything seems to being going good.

It is 5:30pm, in the news a beautiful young lady smiling, trying to have a good day started talking about booming India. Suddenly everything seems to go wrong…

Breaking news: Indian Airlines flight 814 from Kathmandu, Nepal to Delhi is hijacked by some terrorists.

The story:

Hijackers demanded the pilot to divert the aircraft to Lahore, Pakistan. Pakistan government quickly refused the permission. Now the hijackers had no chance other than landing the aircraft in Punjab as the aircraft was running low on fuel. Hijackers asked for the plane to be refueled. The government of India refused and tried to get some sharp shooters to fire at the aircraft tyre’s , but for unknown reasons it didn’t happen as NSF(National Security Guards) got stuck in traffic near Amritsar. The aircraft had to take off with the fuel left and got it refueled in Lahore and then flew off to Kandahar, Afghanistan.

It was revealed that the hijackers had the support of the Taliban government, finally Indian government stroke a deal with the hijackers.

Demand: Release the following terrorists in exchange with the passengers on board.

  • Maulana Masood Azhar
  • Mushtaq Ahmed Zargar
  • Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh

On December 31, 1999, the freed hostages flew back to India in a special flight and the hijackers disappeared in to Afghanistan.

My alarm woke me up to this incident, me being lazy to get up snoozed the incident.

Later Indian film producers made a movie on this incident, made money and had snoozed the incident like I did.

My life continued until my alarm tried to wake me up again December 13, 2001.

The day India seemed very vulnerable. Five gunmen infiltrated the Parliament House in a car with Home Ministry and Parliament labels. They got out of the car, and began firing. In reply police officers and security fired back and killed them.

I tried to wake up and in fact I did only to condemn the attack and went back to sleep.

September 25’2002: Two terrorists had raid the Akshardham temple complex in Ahmadabad, killing 30 people and injuring many more. As usual I and my fellow citizens of India snoozed the incident.

Another day.. my life continued….

My alarm woke me up again, this time the ringing volume was going crazy…

August 25’2003: At least 48 people were killed and 150 injured in two blasts in south Mumbai - one near the Gateway of India at the other at the Zaveri Bazaar.

This time also I woke up, but everything in vain as I went to sleep again and snoozed my alarm to wake me up for the next incident.

July 5’ 2005: Terrorist attack on Ayodhya – Six terrorists belonging to Lashkar-e-Toiba storms the Ayodhya Ram Janma bhomi complex. Before the terrorists could reach the main disputed site, they were shot down by Indian security forces. One devotee and two policemen were injured.

October 29’2005: Multiple bomb blasts hit markets in Delhi, India, leaving at least 61 dead and more than 200 injured.

My life still continued. I’m very much thankful to god for giving me the ability to forget the past and move on in to the future.

July 11’2006: A series of explosions rock commuter trains in Mumbai, killing 209 and wounding another 714 civilians.

May 18’2007: The old city area in Hyderabad, capital of Indian state of Andhra Pradesh for the first time experienced a terrorist attack on Mecca Masjid. Every one are stunned to the incident. Everyone raised their voices tried to show up the inability of the government to avoid such incidents.

August 25’2007: Twin bombings kill at least 44 and injure 54 in Hyderabad.

Now my alarm really went crazy I woke up, with laziness stretching my arms.

July 25 ‘2008: A series of nine blasts in Bangalore.

July 26 ‘2008: A series of seven blasts in Ahmadabad.

September 13’2008: 5 bombs exploded in Delhi, the capital of India killing 30 and injuring 90.

Now by this time I’m totally awake and was busy criticizing the government’s ability to counter attack terrorists and see such things not happen again.

Our prime minister was also busy criticizing the Pakistani government and militants.

Just recently Indian government started advertising about tourism in India, inviting people from all over the world to explore the safe India.

November 26-29 ‘2008: Armed terrorists opened fire at eight different sites in a coordinated attack in Mumbai. They wielded automatic weapons and attacked locations including a train station, hotels, restaurants, a police station, and a hospital. Some terrorists took hostages. NSF (National security Guards) retaliated killed all the terrorists except one. Took that one terrorist into custody, according to media reports that terrorist is just 21 yrs old.

November 27 ‘2008: A Sydney paper quoted “Explore the safe India while terrorists gun you down “ In reply to the Indian government advertisement about tourism in India.

Now I completely awake and worried about the future of my country requesting my fellow Indians to wake up and realize that blame-game don’t help in saving our country.

We should show the terrorists that we are all together regardless of religion, caste.

JAGO INDIA JAGO
